I had a cup of latte at a nearby Starbucks with my BFF K this morning. My favorite drink is 2 pump Vanilla Latte (iced for summer time!) To tell you the truth, I love coffee, period. It doesn't have to be Starbucks. Actually Dunkin Donuts's iced latte is pretty good. Or a cappuccino after dinner at my favorite restauratns. That makes me very happy.
When K and I were sitting and talking about nothing and everything, we talked about the price of Starbucks coffee. We all know that the price will be going up very soon, again, some say up to 30%. 30%! That's crazy. Is that possible???
I remember there were times my Grande 2pump Latte was $3.65. Then to $3.85. Now? It's $4.11. I don't even want to think about how much it's going to be within a few months. Funny thing is, people complain about it, but still go to the drive through and order the same thing all over again. It's like cigarettes. If you love it, it doesn't matter how expensive it is, you will still pay for it. Right?
I'm not sure how much of raise I'm willing to pay, but $5 for a cup of latte is damn expensive! What do you think everyone? Do you like Starbucks or do you have other favorite place for a nice cup of coffee???

I was pulling an all week study craze and needed to stay awake. I had two caramel machiattos once in a period of one hour, and I think I know what it's like to be on crack.
They cost $5. each and change, so I guess this is common. They know that people will buy nonetheless.
I'm not a Starbucks fan, but I live in a city that has great local coffee places. When I visit my family in SoCal, I do go to Starbucks because it's the best I can find.
If we go where that is all there is...then yes, we will stop and get one...but more often than not, we find ourselves not just going to get one....
When we are at the book store, a totally different story!
One thing that I noticed when I moved to the US fro Oz is how cheap your Starbucks drinks were. But now the prices are catching up to Aussie prices. I hate to think what Australians have to pay for their cup of Java now! Scary!
I am a Dunkin Donuts kid of girl...and i love trying all kinds of tea.
I'm addicted. And I admit it!
I actually don't drink coffee at all (or very rarely) so I will splurge once in a while to get something. But as a daily habit, watching those prices go up for the same drink would make me crazy!
Imperfect Stepford Mom: LOL.. on crack - I think many people say that about Starbucks or BlackBerry.
Unknown Mami: I think if there were nice cafes here, I would rather spend $5 there, not Starbucks.
The Muse: In my town, it's not hard to find a Starbucks, so it's more like a habit - a bad habit.
Dionne: Did you know, Starbucks in Japan, they charge extra for whip cream! Also, Hawaii's a bit more expensive thant here in my town...
Geezees Custom Canvas Art: I love Dunkin Donuts coffee too!!! They make great coffee and cheaper and more volume than Starbucks!
Ms. Salti: My mother in law honestly believe Starbucks is putting something in it for people to get addicted to their stuff:)
Bayjb: Ah that's quite the surprise that you don't drink coffee - but I can see that you like tea:)
